Essentially, the difference between a platter and a bowl is that a platter is shallower.
Platters also often have a wide rim, as can be seen on those shown on this page. The wide rim offers an opportunity
for decoration in the form of carving, texturing and colouring so they make great decorative or commemorative pieces.
Wooden platters can also be used as shallow fruit bowls and if used for decoration, can be displayed horizontally
or vertically.

Finishes are generally wax based. A wax finish is suitable for either decorative use or as a fruit bowl but will not withstand washing.
Turned wooden platters can be made to order in a wood of your choice and with a selection of texturing and / or colouring.
