Woodturning are Graffiti, a company who specialise in the printing of
garments in all shapes and sizes. Graffiti printed the excellent
Lovell woodturning smocks used here in the Creative woodturning
school, they also printed the t-shirts and sweat shirts that have
become every day wear in the workshop. The top picture on this
page shows one of the t-shirts Graffiti printed for a large tool
company, worn to advertise their new hollowing tools at a recent
woodturning
trade show.
THE PROCESS
The printing process is done by a method called transfer printing
where images are cut from special material, this in turn is heat
sealed onto the garment at temperatures of between 160 and 200
degrees, resulting in a colour fast hard wearing image. Many
different types of material are available making it possible to
print onto most types of garment, these include t-shirts, polo's,
sweat shirts, jackets and working clothes. As a company,
Graffiti also print for many off-road motorcycle racing teams,
printing some of the shirts worn by the riders seen regularly on Sky
TVs World Championship moto cross series, they also print football
shirts for local leagues and have printed a number one-off t-shirts
and shirts for woodturners and clubs in the region.
