Woodturning UK, Goblin Boxer Wet & Dry Vacuum Cleaner -  June 2004

BOXER - THE HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION.
Whoever it was in marketing that thought of the name Boxer certainly new their product, this small wet and dry cleaner from the Goblin stable is certainly a heavyweight.  As I was comparing it to larger, more expensive cleaners meant for the same purpose I had my doubts, but after using it around the workshop for the last three months I have no doubt at all, it's become one of my favourite tools.

With tool storage on board I was also able to put the Boxer Wet & Dry in my car and use it at a number of demonstrations, making it easy and simple for me to clean up any turning mess, shavings or dust before packing my tools and lathe away.

Cleaning up after any work session can take its toll on household cleaners but the compact Boxer from Goblin will certainly find a welcome place in the hands of DIY enthusiasts, tradesmen or anyone with a big mess to clean up. Also being able to handle both wet and dry spillages it is not limited to indoor use.  Having a blow function I have used the Boxer in the garden to blow away leaves.

BLOCKED DRAINS, WASHING MACHINES SPILLAGES, THE BOXER DEALS WITH MOST SITUATIONS.
The Boxer Wet & Dry boasts a good sized 1250w motor that can be used to suck or blow, a large 20 litre tank allowing the cleaner to pick up 14 litres of dry matter or 10 litres of liquid.  So whether you are clearing up wood chippings and dust from the shed, shavings from a heavy session of turning or woodworking, dealing with a leaky washing machine or clearing a blocked drain the Boxer Wet & Dry can deal with most situations.

The motor is fitted with a safety float that automatically switches the unit off when the limit of water in the tank is reached.

GOOD POINTS - BAD POINTS.

Having a very long cable and being fitted with wheels easily allowed the cleaner to follow me around the workshop like a lost puppy. I would have liked a slightly longer hose and the possibility of a small brush for cleaning around machinery in the workshop, but as with everything, extras cost. Coming with a two year guarantee the Boxer Wet & Dry can be found in most electrical and DIY outlets for well under £50 and, for me this represented good value for the money.

The cleaner comes in a two tone blue and grey finish and is complete with a multi-purpose floor nozzle, a squeegee attachment for picking up liquid and a brush for hard floors.  A crevice tool, ideal for getting into small places, the interior of a car or van is also included.  All are stored on board making the unit easy to tidy away.

Many thanks go to
