The Sanding Glove, in my humble
opinion, the glove's
designer should also be proud of himself, it's such a simple idea,
but then all the best products usually start from simple ideas.
Holding small strips of abrasive when sanding is difficult at the
best of times, it can quickly lead to an uneven surface on your work
and often leave you with very sore
fingers. Developed by Virginia woodturner Bruce Hoover, The Sanding
Glove™
is fitted with Velcro® strips on the inner and outer fingers, to
these can be attached a variety of foam pads that in turn takes a
series of abrasive discs, allowing you to sand in a most natural
way.
AVAILABLE AS A GLOVE OR IN KIT FORM
The Sanding Glove™
can be purchased as a single glove or in a choice of 2 different
kits. The foam pads and abrasive discs are also available. The
Sanding Glove™
is available in sizes from small up to 2x and of course in left and
right hand and is well made from NAPA goat leather that is treated
to be soft and comfortable. The pads come in 3" and 5" diameters and
there is a firm 3" pad with a straight edge for detail sanding.
Prices range from $16.95 - £10.25 for the glove, to $49.95 - £30.00
for the complete number 2 kit.
SAND ANY FLAT OR ROUND SURFACE
Sometimes, nothing can take the place of a good old-fashioned hand
sanding, by quickly attaching any of the interface pads that are available
for
The Sanding Glove™
it is easy to hand sand any flat, round or concave surface, and by
adding the 3" firm pad, grooves, rebates and mouldings are a
breeze.
One of the biggest bonuses with
The Sanding Glove™
design is that it definitely reduces the fatigue and cramped fingers
that come with gripping the small pieces of abrasive that we all use
from time to time. By attaching a disc direct to the glove without
using the foam pads it is
also easy to sand the inside and necks of hollow turned forms.
All in all a very useful product to have in your toolkit.
I used the glove on a number of different items using the
photographs sent in and found it helped
in every situation. Sanding with only a disk attached made it very
easy to clean up the small openings on a number of the vessels I had
made.
Although the glove was originally developed as an aid to woodturners
its use doesn't stop there, it's been tested and used by
woodworkers, carvers, chair makers, furniture refinishers, boat
builders and restorers and by homeowners, especially during drywall
repairs and painting preparation.
